A camera records what happened. A sensor can tell you it is happening. Combining the two is how modern security systems stop incidents rather than only document them.
Motion sensors
Motion sensors detect movement inside a room or along a corridor and trigger alarms or lights. Placed well, they cover stores, offices and storerooms after hours.
Vibration sensors
Vibration sensors detect forced entry attempts such as drilling or hitting a door, window, safe or fence line. They are valuable where a break-in would start with the barrier, not the room.
Building a layered system
- Perimeter: electric fence and vibration sensing
- Entry points: biometric access control and gate intercoms
- Interior: motion sensors and intruder alarms
- Overall: CCTV cameras to verify and record
